18U: USA defeats Canada, 6-2, for gold
Keegan Thompson struck out Gareth Morgan for the final out, and found himself on the bottom of the United States' celebratory dogpile after winning the XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship. The 6-2 victory over Canada gives USA its first world championship at the 18U level since 1999. Reese McGuire went 2-for-3 with two crucial RBIs as USA avenged a 1-0 extra-inning loss to Canada earlier in the tournament.

18U: USA headed to gold-medal game
In a de facto world championships semifinals game, Team USA needed to make two comebacks. They took a lead in the seventh inning on Christian Arroyo's RBI single, and Kevin Davis pitched them to victory out of the bullpen as USA defeated Japan, 10-5, to advance to Saturday's gold-medal game.

With his team trailing, 2-0, Dominic Taccolini took over in relief and willed Team USA past Venezuela, 3-2. The right-hander struck out eight over six scoreless innings and held Venezuela in check until Cavan Biggio hit a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the eighth.

With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, and the USA leading, 2-0, the skies opened up, ending an afternoon of baseball in Taichung, Taiwan. According to international rules, the game reverts back to the last completed inning, giving the teams a 0-0 tie after five complete.
