TAINAN, Taiwan - Team USA (2-1) scored a program-record 28 runs and its pitching staff allowed just one hit as it powered past Italy (1-3), 28-1, in the third game of the 2019 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-12 Baseball World Cup, at ASPAC B Stadium in Tainan, Taiwan on Monday.

Team USA notched one of the best offensive games in the history of the 12U National Team on Monday. The U.S. set a program record with 28 runs on the day, besting the previous mark that was set in a 27-6 win over Korea in 2017. The red, white and blue, also finished second in two team categories, RBIs (23) and walks (10), falling one RBI and a walk short of tying the team records.

Rashad Hayes (Oakland, Calif.) led the U.S. offensively after recording four RBIs on a pair of hits, including a home run, and scoring four runs in the contest. Hayes' four runs placed him in a tie with 10 other players for the most in a game. Lucas Tinajero (Corpus Christi, Texas) added a pair of home runs and contributed four RBIs in his two appearances at the plate. Jack Ruckert (Baton Rouge, La.) became the eighth player in program history to record four hits in a game. Eleven total batters recorded a hit for Team USA, while 10 earned an RBI.

Team USA's starting pitcher Jayden Stroman (Medford, N.Y.) earned the win on the mound after allowing just one hit and striking out a batter in two innings of work. Jack McKernan (Missouri City, Texas) entered the game in the third inning and struck out two of the three batters he faced in his lone inning of work. Italy's starting pitcher Alessandro Gamberini suffered the loss after giving up six runs while failing to record an out.
