Student-Athletes From Around The Nation Invited To Play In The High School All-American Game At Dodger Stadium On Friday, July 15th

Major League Baseball and USA Baseball today announced the roster for the third edition of the “High School All-American Game,” scheduled at Dodger Stadium on Friday, July 15th as part of 2022 MLB All- Star Week in Los Angeles. This premier All-Star showcase game will feature a roster of nearly 40 participants who are some of the top U.S.-based high school baseball prospects for next year’s MLB Draft (2023). The livestream of the High School All-American Game on MLB.com, starting at approximately 6:00 p.m. ET, will be produced by MLB Network with Scott Braun, Harold Reynolds and Jonathan Mayo on the call, with AJ Andrews serving as a sideline reporter. The game will re-air on MLB Network at Noon ET on Saturday, July 16th.

Players represent 16 States from around the Nation, notably three players from Southern California (Los Angeles and Orange Counties). Several players featured in the High School All-American Game have previously participated in diversity-focused development initiatives led by MLB & USA Baseball, which include the Breakthrough SeriesDREAM Series and Hank Aaron Invitational (also supported jointly by the MLB- MLBPA Youth Development Foundation). These players include: Antonio Anderson (Hank Aaron Invitational, Breakthrough Series), Justin Best (Hank Aaron Invitational, Breakthrough Series, DREAM Series), Dillon Head (Hank Aaron Invitational, Breakthrough Series, DREAM Series), Zion Rose (Hank Aaron Invitational, DREAM Series) and Nazzan Zanetello (Breakthrough Series).

Additional USA Baseball roster notes:

  • 37 of the 40 High School All-American Game players are currently at the Prospect Development Pipeline (PDP)
  • League, being held at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C., featuring the country’s best 18-and-under players and serving as the primary identification event for the 18U National Team.
  • Four of these student-athletes are USA Baseball national team alumni:

  • Walker Jenkins: 2021 18U National Team
  • Blake Mitchell: 2021 18U National Team

The High School All-American Game will be helmed by an All-Star cast of coaches, including Managers Andre Ethier (former All-Star OF for the Dodgers) and David Eckstein (2002 World Series Champion with the Angels; 2015 18U National Team assistant coach), who will be supported by Reggie Smith (former All-Star OF for the Dodgers; 1981 World Series Champion with the Dodgers; 2000 Sydney Olympic Games assistant coach), Brad Penny (former All-Star SP for the Dodgers; 2021 18U National Team pitching coach), Jack Wilson (former All-Star SS; greater Los Angeles native; 2021 18U National Team assistant coach), Reggie Williams (former Dodgers and Angels OF), Don Cooper (former Major League pitcher and pitching coach), John Sarna (Chicago Scouts Association) and Derek Gittus (Head Baseball Coach, Portsmouth Abbey School in Rhode Island).

This year at the High School All-American Game, Chevrolet will award the “**MLB Develops MVP Award presented by Chevrolet**” to the player who exhibits quality on-field performance, defensively or offensively, as voted on by MLB Development staff at the conclusion of the game. Winners will be featured on MLBN, MLB.com and @MLBDevelops social accounts. All MLB Develops MVPs will be invited to Game 2 of the World Series to celebrate their accomplishment.

Eight of the All-American players will compete in the annual “High School Home Run Derby,” scheduled for Saturday, July 16th at Dodger Stadium. MLB.com will livestream this round, with commentary by BraunJim Callis and Sande Charles. The players will vie for a chance to compete in the Finals during breaks of the T-Mobile Home Run Derby on Monday, July 18th.
