CARY, N.C. - Elite Squad scored double-digit runs for the third straight game as it defeated Twelve Baseball, 12-2, in the first semifinal of the 2019 10U Futures Invitational at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, North Carolina, on Saturday.

Elite Squad clinched a spot in its first 10U Futures Invitational Championship game with the win, while Twelve Baseball will play in Sunday's bronze medal game.

Bryan Ravelo earned the win on the mound for Elite Squad after allowing one earned run on three hits and striking out five in four innings of work. Kyle Stone suffered the loss for Twelve Baseball after allowing five earned runs on eight hits in three innings on the mound.

Four players, Matthew Carrasco, Blayden Caballero, Gavin Hickey and Dylan Fernandez, led Elite Squad at the plate after recording two hits each. Ten different players scored runs in the game for Elite Squad, while Ravelo paced the team with two RBIs at the plate. Tripp Surbur went two-for-two with a double and a run scored to lead Twelve Baseball.

Key Moments:

  • Hayden Bogan opened scoring in the top of the first after he reached base on a fielder's choice before moving to third on a wild pitch. Bogan crossed home after a pickoff attempt from Elite Squad got away from the first baseman to give Twelve Baseball a 1-0 advantage.
  • Allan Hernandez and Dylan Fernandez led off the bottom of the second for Elite Squad with a walk and a single, respectively, before reaching second and third on a groundout from Sylas Billie. Bryan Ravelo gave Elite Squad the lead as he drove in Hernandez and Fernandez with a double down the right-field line. Felipe Benitez then hit an RBI-groundout to the shortstop to give Elite Squad a 3-1 advantage after two.
  • Elite Squad's offense continued to roll in the bottom of the third, bringing home three runs to take a 6-1 lead. Brady Buxbaum drove in Blayden Cabalerro with a single that went just wide of the shortstop's glove. Hernandez brought Buxbaum home with an RBI-triple to right field, before scoring on a single by Fernandez.
  • Twelve Baseball's Tripp Surbur led off the top of the fourth inning with a double down the left field line before scoring two batters later as Kade Kram hit an RBI-groundout to the first baseman.
  • Six straight hitters reached base for Elite Squad in the bottom of the fourth on three singles, a double and a pair of errors from Twelve Baseball to make the score 12-2 and end the game due to the run-rule.
