CARY, N.C. - Team Navy collected a come-from-behind 7-4 win over Team Light Blue on Tuesday afternoon at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. After going down 3-0, Team Navy used a five-run third inning to go ahead before adding two more insurance runs in the fifth.

Both offenses showed power as four of the game’s 12 hits went for extra bases, including triples from Team Light Blue’s Cole Young and Team Navy’s Dominic Hellman. Hellman (2-for-2) led the way for Team Light Blue while five different batters collected hits for Team Navy.

Karson Milbrandt got the start on the mound for Team Light Blue, pitching two scoreless frames before Kassius Thomas (0-1) pitched the third and took the loss. Jaden Noot started the game for Team Navy and Jack O’Connor (1-0) earned the win after pitching the third and fourth innings. Zach Crotchfelt got the save after pitching a scoreless seventh.

Key Moments

• Young sent a two-out triple into center for Team Light Blue’s first hit of the game in the top of the first inning.
• Back-to-back singles from Lukas Schramm and Hellman followed by a walk loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the second for Team Light Blue before Christian Arroyo grounded into a double play and brought across Schramm to make it 1-0.
• Team Light Blue’s second run of the second inning came when Hellman scored on a wild pitch to give the squad a 2-0 lead.
• Cole Young drew a one-out walk and came across to score on a Ryan Clifford double to make it 3-0 in the top of the third.
• After Malcolm Moore was hit by a pitch and Mikey Romero drew a walk, Owen Murphy hit a two-RBI double for Team Navy to cut the deficit to one, 3-2.
• Team Navy loaded the bases when Justin Crawford moved Murphy to third on a single and Sal Stewart drew a walk. The team added three more runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-3 lead.
• Hellman hit a leadoff triple in the top of the fourth and came across to score on an RBI groundout from Arroyo, bringing Team Light Blue within one, 5-4.
• Romero hit a sacrifice fly into left to bring in Paxton Kling and stretch the Team Navy lead to 6-4 in the bottom of the fifth.
• Team Navy capped off the win after Karson Bowen came across on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 7-4 for Team Navy.

Notable Information

• Despite giving up 11 hits between the two teams, Team Navy and Team Light Blue pitchers combined to throw 21 strikeouts in the game
• Team Navy advanced to 1-1-1 with the win and will play again Thursday, July 29, against Team Red.
• Team Light Blue moved to 1-2 and will play against Team Gray in its next game on Thursday, July 29.
