CARY, N.C. - Elite Squad finished pool play with an undefeated record after using 16 hits to defeat the Parker Jets, 15-1, fat the 2019 10U Futures Invitational at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, North Carolina.

Elite Squad's starting pitcher Samuel Echeverry earned the win on the mound for after striking out three and allowing just two hits in 2.2 scoreless innings. Brady Buxbaum struck out two in 1.1 innings of relief, while Ayden Rosario closed the game with a strikeout in 1.1 innings. Carter Rathburn suffered the loss for the Parker Jets after allowing six earned runs on six hits in 2.1 innings on the mound.

Gavin Hickey went 3-for-4 and recorded a pair of RBIs to lead Elite Squad at the plate. Ayden Rosario paced the team with three RBIs and Blayden Cabellero contributed three runs to lead Elite Squad. Four players recorded at least two RBIs for Elite Squad, while Matthew Carrasco, Rosario and Dylan Fernandez hit a triple each. Rathburn went two-for-two at the plate with a double and an RBI to lead Parker Jets.

  • Blayden Caballero opened scoring for Elite Squad in the top of the first inning as he stole home thanks to a wild pitch. Elite Squad added to the lead in the next inning as Allan Hernandez scored on an error by the Parker Jets pitcher.
  • Elite Squad kept the offense rolling in the third inning as it loaded the bases with two singles and a walk before Gavin Hickey hit an RBI line drive to center field. Two batters later, Dylan Fernandez hit a deep fly that land over center fielder's head and rolled to the fence to cleared the bases as Fernandez landed on third with a three-run triple.
  • Allan Hernandez and Ayden Rosario continued the scoring in the top of third after hitting back-to-back RBI-singles to extend the lead to 8-0 in the third.
  • Hickey earned his second RBI of the contest in the fourth inning as he hit a hard ground ball through the middle of the infield to give Elite Squad a 9-0 advantage.
  • The Parker Jets scored its lone run of the game in the home half of the fourth as Carter Rathburn doubled to the gap in left-center as Colton Heimlicher scored from first.
  • Elite Squad added six more runs in the next half inning as Matthew Carrasco and Rosario each hit a two-RBI triple, while Julian Diaz and Caballero each logged an RBI-single as Elite Squad earned the 15-1 victory.

  • After pool play has concluded, four teams will advance to play in the 2019 10U Futures Invitational Semifinal games on Saturday. The semifinalist will be announced on Friday evening on Twitter at @USABFutures on Twitter and on USABaseball.com.
  • The two semifinals will take place at 9:15 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. on Field 7 at Thomas Brooks Park. Six consolation games will round out Saturday's schedule, at 9:00 am ET.
