2020 16U National Team Championships North Carolina All-Tournament Team Announced

Nine of the 14 teams at the event were represented on the All-Tournament Team

CARY, N.C. -- USA Baseball named the All-Tournament Team for the inaugural 16U National Team Championships North Carolina on Sunday, following the conclusion of the event.

The East Cobb Astros went undefeated in the tournament and secured the gold medal with a comeback 8-5 victory. Nine teams are represented on the All-Tournament Team with Canes National and the East Cobb Astros leading the way with three selections each.

The 2020 16U National Team Championships North Carolina All-Tournament Team:

Mason Abromitis - US Elite<br class="noMarginBottom" / Mason Abromitis was named to the All-Tournament Team after leading the tournament with a .556 batting average (5-for-9). He finished the 16U National Team Championships North Carolina with two doubles, four RBIs, five walks and a 1.492 OPS. That's not all, Abromitis came on in relief for US Elite, giving up just two hits in his 1.3 innings of relief work.

Derek Bermudez - Elite Squad<br class="noMarginBottom" / Derek Bermudez tied for the most hits in the 16U National Team Championships North Carolina with 12, and finished the tournament hitting .444 en route to a spot on the All-Tournament Team. He tallied four doubles and 10 RBIs, and scored seven runs for Elite Squad, who advanced to the semifinals. Bermudez picked up a hit in seven of the eight games at the event and finished the semifinal matchup against Canes National 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Radek Birkholz - East Cobb Astros<br class="noMarginBottom" / Radek Birkholz earned his spot on the All-Tournament Team after finishing with 11 punchouts in 8.2 innings of work over three appearaces, which was good enough for second in the entire event. He did not allow a single earned run in the event, while giving up just four hits and three walks. He helped lead the East Cobb Astros to a gold medal in the tournament with a stellar start in his team's semifinal victory in which he allowed just one run on four hits and struck out eight.

Everett Cooper - Team Elite<br class="noMarginBottom" / Everett Cooper was named to the All-Tournament Team after tallying a .474 batting average for Team Elite. He finished the tournament 9-for-21 with a pair of doubles, four RBIs and six runs scored. Cooper tallied a hit in every game of the tournament, including a 3-for-4 outing with two RBIs and two runs scored against Florida Burn.

CJ DiNapoli - Richmond Braves<br class="noMarginBottom" / CJ DiNapoli secured his spot on the All-Tournament Team with a .333 average and five hits in six games for Richmond Braves Platinum. He also tied for third in the entire tournament with eight runs scored, while also drawing four walks, swiping four bags and tying for the tournament lead in triples with two.

Marek Houston - Florida Burn<br class="noMarginBottom" / Marek Houston helped lead Florida Burn to a bronze medal at the 16U National Team Championships and also earned his way onto the All-Tournament Team thanks to a .417 batting average. He ended the tournament 10-for 24, with three doubles, six RBIs and four runs scored. Houston tallied four mult-hit games during the tournament, including a 2-for-4, two double performance against US Elite National and a 2-for-3 outing against East Cobb in the semifinals.

Xavier Isaac - Canes National<br class="noMarginBottom" / Xavier Isaac was a huge part of the Canes National run to the championship game and he earned his spot on the All-Tournament Team by hitting .480 and leading the entire event in three offensive categories. He crushed three home runs in eight games, including a walk-off grand slam, while also collecting a tournament-high 16 RBIs and tying for the event lead with 12 hits. In addition, Isaac also tied for second in the event in runs scored with 10.

Jason LePage - Florida Burn<br class="noMarginBottom" / Jason LePage was dominant on the mound for Florida Burn, pitching eight innings of scoreless baseball for Florida Burn en route to a bronze medal finish at the 16U National Team Championships North Carolina. In his two starts, he surrendered just five hits and struck out five batters. LePage was especially masterful against Richmond Braves Platinum, giving up just two hits in five innings of work.

Dylan Lesko - East Cobb Astros<br class="noMarginBottom" / Dylan Lesko earned his spot on the All-Tournament Team after leading the entire event in punchouts with 12 in just two appearances. In addition, he allowed just one run on four hts and two walks throughout the entire tournament. Lesko put together a stellar outing in the East Cobb Astros' quarterfinal victory, allowing just three runners to reach base on one hit in a five-inning complete game shutout performance. .

JR Ritchie - Canes National<br class="noMarginBottom" / JR Ritchie tallied a 2.42 ERA in 8.2 innings of work over two appearances to secure a spot on the All-Tournament Team. He gave up just three runs on five hits while helping Canes National in its run to the 16U National Team Championships North Carolina title game and a silver medal.

AJ Shepard - Canes National<br class="noMarginBottom" / AJ Shepard was an All-Tournament Team selection after tying for second in the tournament with 10 hits and five doubles in eight games. He also hit .476 while swiping five bases, drawing five walks and collecting five RBIs, seven runs and a home run. He helped lead Canes National to the 16U National Team Championships North Carolina gold medal game with a 2-for-4 performance with two RBIs in the semifinals.

Sal Stewart - 5 Star National<br class="noMarginBottom" / Sal Stewart ended the 16U National Team Championships North Carolina with a .462 average and held a .632 on-base percentage to earn his spot on the All-Tournament Team. He finished with five walks in the tournament and came around to score four runs. Stewart set the tone for 5 Star Nationall Burress offensively, getting a hit in every game of the tournament.

Dakota Stone - NEB Jays<br class="noMarginBottom" / Dakota Stone earned his spot on the All-Tournament Team by tying for the tournament lead in strikeouts, collecting 12 in 6.1 innings of work. He allowed just two runs on five hits and two walks in his two appearaces for the NEB Jays in the event.

Jason Torres - Elite Squad<br class="noMarginBottom" / Jason Torres finished the 16U National Team Championships North Carolina with 12 hits and five doubles, good enough to tie for the most in the tournament in their respective categories. Torres hit five doubles, scored seven runs and contributed seven RBIs to the tune of a .480 average and a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Torres also made three appearances on the mound for Elite Squad, giving up just three runs in eight innings. In total, he had three games in which he tallied three or more hits, including a 4-for-5, three double performance against Team Elite.

Ryan Terrell - Richmond Braves Platinum<br class="noMarginBottom" / Ryan Terrell led the entire field in the tournament in innings pitched with 10 in his two appearances. He allowed just three hits in his 10 innings of work and picked up the win in both games while recording a 0.70 ERA.

Jett Williams - East Cobb Astros<br class="noMarginBottom" / Jett Williams hit .400 and tied for the event lead in runs scored (12) and stolen bases (7) to clinch a spot on the All-Tournament Team. His eight RBIs were good for third in the tournament and he also tallied eight hits, one double and one triple while tying for second in th event with eight walks while helping to lead the East Cobb Astros to a 16U National Team Championships North Carolina gold medal.
