US Elite Pitchers Allow Just Four Hits En Route to Bronze Medal

CARY, N.C. - US Elite used an early lead to defeat Team Elite American 3-2 and win the 2019 16U Cups bronze medal game on Sunday at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. 
US Elite were first on the board after James Michel singled on a grounder that found the right field grass in the bottom of the first. US Elite added two more runs in the second when Jannuel Wispi hit a fly ball to left that turned into an inside-the-park home run. After being held scoreless through the first four innings, Team Elite American knocked in two runs on a single to center from Shane Garrett. US Elite would hold Team Elite American scoreless the final two innings and win the 16U Cup bronze medal game.
US Elite's offense was led by Michel who went 2-for-3 with one RBI and Wispi who went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Garrett led Team Elite American's offense with one hit and two RBIs. Ryan Blaszczak earned the win for US Elite after five innings pitched with five strikeouts. Jaxon Masteron suffered the loss for Team Elite American.
US Elite finished the tournament with a record of 3-2, while Team Elite American finished 2-3 on the weekend.
