USA Baseball recently released its first-ever advanced level course, ‘Developing a Game Day Pitching Routine,’ written and hosted by Director of Player Development Jim Koerner.

The course, which costs $10, is available at USABDevelops.com and on the USA Baseball app.

This course, which includes four main units, was developed because proper pitcher preparation is often neglected, especially at the travel and showcase level. It provides insight as to why game day pitching routines are important, proper timing for a pitcher’s pre-game routine, the process of a routine, and the differences between the preparation of a starting pitcher and relief pitcher.

Throughout these units, the benefits of having a proper pre-game routine and how that routine can be instrumental to a pitcher's short and long-term success are explained and demonstrated through video. It also includes sample throwing progressions and daily band work, as well as examples of a pre-game throwing routine and a pre-game bullpen session.
