Ryan Lavarnway has had a solid junior season in 2008, following his breakout year in 2007. The Yale standout moved behind the plate last year and set school records in batting average (.467), slugging percentage (.873), home runs (14), hits (70), doubles (17), RBIs (55) and total bases (131). His batting average and slugging percentage led the NCAA. With hits in the first 23 games of the 2007 season, he broke a 78-year-old school record for longest hitting streak, and including the last two games of 2006, his 25-game streak also set a new Ivy League record.
