A tall, talented right-hander who worked out of the bullpen as a freshman, Stephen Strasburg has moved to the starting rotation in his sophomore season, and that move has paid off. He's near the top of the nation in ERA and strikeouts, and his strikeouts-per-nine innings have actually increased since last year. The San Diego native was one of the best closers in the country in 2007, striking out 11.7 batters per nine innings. Then, the next summer, he played for Torrington in the New England Collegiate Baseball League and was named the league's top reliever and top pro prospect.
