Christian Moore has cemented himself as one of the nation’s top hitters this season and is a legitimate contender to take home SEC Player of the Year honors. The junior second baseman leads the league with a .429 batting average, 20 home runs, 57 hits and 123 total bases in conference play, while he tied for first in RBI (41) and second in slugging percentage (.925).
He was named the NCBWA National Player of the Month for April, and is a two-time SEC Player of the Week. Moore was also named National Player of the Week on April 22 by D1Baseball.com and Perfect Game after a three-homer performance in a series-clinching road win at No. 3 Kentucky. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native became the program’s all-time home run leader in that game as well.
Moore’s 27 long balls this season are both a career best and the single-season UT record.
