As one of the favorites to win SEC Pitcher of the Year, Florida ace Aidan King ranks second in the conference with a 2.19 ERA and first in the SEC with a 0.89 WHIP. He also ranks ninth in the SEC in wins (seven) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.73), fifth in innings pitched (74) and sixth in walks per nine (2.0), while his .187 batting average against is in line to be the lowest by a Gator since 2011 (Nick Maronde: .178).
King has thrown a team-high eight quality starts this season including six in SEC play, having going 7.0-plus innings in four of his last six SEC starts. As a result, King is top five in the league with 56 2/3 innings and 6.3 innings per start in SEC play, where he sits first in WHIP (0.95), fifth in ERA (2.86), ninth in strikeouts (60) and second in batting average against (.165).
During a recent streak of five straight outings with a quality start, King went 4-0 with a 1.51 ERA in 35 2/3 frames to lower his season ERA to a then-1.73 - which would be the best by a Gator since Michael Byrne in 2017 (1.67). Across his last 18 starts dating back to last season, King is 11-3 with a 1.68 ERA and 105-to-26 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 112 2/3 innings pitched (21 earned runs allowed).
