West Virginia’s Gavin Kelly is one of the most versatile players in the nation, splitting his time on the field at second base and behind the plate, excelling at both positions.
Kelly is currently at or near the top of the leaderboard in the Big 12 in batting average (.391), runs (52), doubles (16), on-base percentage (.482) and slugging percentage (.696), while also leading the Mountaineers in home runs (12), RBI (46) and OPS (1.178). He also has nearly as many walks (30) as strikeouts (31) at the plate.
Behind the plate, Kelly has thrown out 38% (9-for-25) of would-be base stealers while catching the top pitching staff in the Big 12. At second base, he has played stellar defense and has an overall fielding percentage of .985 with more than 300 chances at both positions.
