From starting the season with 29 straight scoreless innings to leading the NCAA in strikeouts, USC’s Mason Edwards has been one of the most electric pitchers in college baseball this season.
A frontrunner for both Big Ten and National Pitcher of the Year, Edwards has posted 142 strikeouts, a 1.61 ERA and a 8-0 record on the mound. In addition to leading the NCAA in strikeouts, Edwards is tops in the country in hits per 9 (4.48) and K’s per 9 (16.31), while also sitting fourth in the NCAA with a 0.93 WHIP.
Edwards is the first USC pitcher since Ian Kennedy in 2005 to top the 140-strikeout mark and the junior lefty set a Big Ten record for strikeouts in a conference season with 101 strikeouts during Big Ten play.
