SURPRISE, Ariz. - On day one of playoff action at the 16U National Team Championships in Arizona, Logan Schweizer, Cole Johnson, Nicolas Salcido and Nick Solorzano all notched multiple hits as BPA defeated the San Diego Stars, 9-3, on Friday afternoon at Surprise Stadium. With the win, the squad advances to the Round of 16 tomorrow.

Both teams started off the game relatively slow offensively, as each starter kept each other off the board for the first two innings. BPA broke the silence first, starting off the inning with a ground out but bouncing back with a walk, three singles and a triple to put four runs on the board.

BPA starter Kamden Cisneros went three solid innings for his squad, tossing 5 1/3 innings while scattering three runs - keeping the Stars off the board for the first three innings - off six hits while striking out one.

The Stars put up one run in each of the last four innings, but BPA responded with more insurance runs in the top of seventh to pad their lead. The squad kicked off the inning with their first four batters reaching base off a hit-by-pitch and four-straight singles off the bats of Schweizer, Johnson, Salcido and Solorzano. Schweizer finished the afternoon with three hits and scored three runs while Johnson, Salcido and Solorzano notched two hits each.

Jacob Entrekin highlighted the Stars offensively, putting up two runs while knocking in one RBI. Hector Millan Jr. also added two RBI off two sacrifice flies.
