The Girls Baseball Breakthrough Series is a joint effort on behalf of USA Baseball and Major League Baseball. This unique event is a baseball development event for top female baseball talent, including both on-field development and off-field programming. Coaches will include former Major League players and current and former USA Baseball Women’s National Team coaches and players.

  • WhenNovember 10-15
  • Where: Arlington, Texas
  • Eligibility: Girls ages 14-18 as of November 10, 2021 are eligible for the event (No exceptions)
  • Number of Participants: 30
  • Application Deadline: September 22, 2021 (Midnight ET)



Q: I’m not from the US. Can I apply?
A: Yes, you may apply, but you must indicate your home country. When you are asked to provide a state in the application, choose any state, and write in your country manually in the additional comments section.

Q: Do I need to submit video to be considered?
A: Yes, you must submit video to be considered. It can be from practices or games. If you cannot upload videos directly, please include a link to the videos when asked. 

Q: I attended MLB Grit: Girls ID Tour this year. Will I be invited to attend the event?
A: All invitees from MLB Grit will be notified by Wednesday, September 15, latest, if they were selected to attend Breakthrough Series. All athletes who do not hear back by then can assume that they were not selected, but may still be considered with an application to the event. 

Q: Will parents be welcome to attend the event?
A: Parents are welcome to attend, but are responsible for their own travel, lodging, and other expenses related to the event. MLB will not be coordinating any flights, lodging, or other logistics for parents.

Q: When will athletes be notified of their selection to the event?
A: We will provide all applicants with a status update by Thursday, September 30, 2021.

There is not an Elite Development Invitational scheduled for 2021.


The first ever Girls Camp will be a highly competitive event held at the Launch Pad Sports Complex in Cocoa, Florida from October 7-9. Players from across the country will compete in a three-day event where they will have the opportunity to further develop their skills through instructional workouts and game play while being coached by previous USA Baseball Women’s National Team staff. At the conclusion of the Girls Camp, the Women's National Team staff will select six (6) players to attend the 2021 Women's National Team Development Program (WNTDP).

  • Eligibility: Girls ages 14-19 are eligible for the event



  • The 2021 MLB GRIT Girls Baseball Identification Tour will serve as an identification event for future girls baseball development events.
  • Girls who play on their high school baseball teams are eligible for the event*
  • Girls must be between the ages of 13-18

* If a high school-aged baseball player does not play on their high school team they may still apply to participate.

2021 Trailblazer Series Info:

In 2021, this digital series is free for all participants and will feature special guest speakers, skills-based instruction and other engaging activities. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from current and former Women's National Team players and coaching staff, baseball industry executives and other dignitaries from in and around the sport.
