
CARY, N.C. - The second day of the 2018 USA Baseball 14U Cup ended on a high note under the lights at Coleman Field with NW Elite taking down TCA Schmunk.
Both teams were able to get on the board in the first inning. TCA Schmunk's Tucker Moore crossed the plate on a ground out, and NW Elite followed in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI line drive single from Coleman Bower.
In the next two innings, NW Elite sent three more runners across the plate. Three singles in the fourth inning from Danny Alvarado, Bower, and Hayden Dearie sent four more across to put them up 8-1.
TCA Schmunk began to chip away at the deficit in the top of the sixth, scoring on a wild pitch, a walk and a Dallas Macias RBI single, making it 8-4 late in the contest.
NW Elite got those three runs back in the bottom of the sixth courtesy of a Bower three RBI triple, making the lead 11-4.
NW Elite moves to 3-1 on the tournament, while TCA Schmunk falls to 1-2. The 14U Cup action concludes on Sunday, with two semifinals and consolation games beginning at 8 a.m. EDT. The action continues at 11 a.m. with two more consolation games followed by the Gold Medal game, Bronze Medal game, and two consolation games at 2 p.m. EDT. Follow @USABEvents on Twitter for updates.
