
After the conclusion of today's quarterfinal games, our semifinals are set for action, beginning on July 3rd following tomorrow's player assessments. With a plethora of offense, some teams jumped out early and never looked back while clinching their spots in the semifinals. Teams had major offensive production with multiple teams scoring 10 runs, while other teams found dominant pitching performances from their starting pitcher, leading to statement victories from our slate of games.
Atlanta Braves Scout Team STB 10, STIX Scout 1
Atlanta Braves 15U Scout Team STB used aggressive approaches at the plate, leading to a nine-run victory. The bats never cooled down for Atlanta Braves Scout Team STB, picking up an impressive 14 hits total in the game. A dominant outing from starting pitcher Fisher Green cemented the victory, getting six innings of work while only giving up four hits and picking up six strikeouts. Green was able to ride his performance to the finish line. Leading the team at the plate was Daniel Biondo who saw the ball well today as he went a solid 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Hitting an RBI double in the third inning, along with an RBI single in the sixth, contributed to the impressive win and advancement to the semifinals.
Texas Twelve Red Sox 8, Canes National 0
The Texas Twelve Red Sox were able to overcome a close loss to Canes National yesterday and win in big fashion today, thanks to solid pitching. A combined shutout performance by Red Sox pitchers Jaylen Aguilar and Brandon Pace was helped by an eight-run day at the plate. Combined, Aguilar and Pace went five innings, surrendering only four hits while striking out five. Pace had a great day at the plate as well, picking up two hits, including an RBI single to left field in the top of the second frame. Also, with a pair of hits was Travis Fielder who picked up a late RBI in the seventh to wrap up an impressive performance to help clinch a ticket to the semifinals.
ZT Alliance 10, Canes Midwest National 1
Scoring seven of its 10 runs in the last two frames, ZT Alliance was able to take care of Canes Midwest National with complementary baseball. Starting pitcher Christopher Woodson racked up eight strikeouts in five innings of work, only allowing three hits, contributing to the big lead. Getting great production out of its cleanup hitter Zain Valdivia, with a clutch three-hit performance with two RBIs, including a RBI double in the first. Closing out the game was Jordan Leon who went two scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts to close out the win and secure a spot in the semifinals.
Arizona Diamondbacks Scout 4, Alpha Prime 3
Behind solid production from the top of its order, Arizona Diamondbacks Scout were able to hold off a late rally to secure its spot in the semifinals. Leading the team offensively was Drew Jackson who recorded a two-RBI triple in the bottom of the fifth. Both teams drove in all of their runs in one frame, with the Diamondbacks scoring all four in the bottom of the fifth frame. Riley Salvemini matched Jackson with an RBI triple of his own, starting the Alpha Prime rally that ultimately fell short. Closing it out was Sammy Garcia with two innings of work, only allowing one hit while recording a strikeout to get Arizona Diamondbacks Scout the win.
Semifinal action is set to start Thursday with ZT Alliance taking on Texas Twelve Red Sox, while Atlanta Braves Scout Team STB is set to square off against Arizona Diamondbacks Scout.
