CARROLLTON, Texas - The Stripes ended the Women's National Team Development Program (WNTDP) with a 7-1 triumph over the Stars to secure a series sweep on Friday afternoon at Hawk Field in Carrollton, Texas.
Megan Baltzell (Stafford, Va.) continued to dominate for the Stripes, going 1-for-2 with an RBI double. Jaime Baum (Los Altos, Calif.) was an essential member of the Stars Friday as she finished with a single and a run scored to end the shutout.
Brittany Schutte (Fountain Valley, Calif.) threw the win for the Stripes, scattering one hit and sitting down two batters in two innings of work. Ashton Lansdell (Marietta, Ga.) tossed one strikeout in her effort on the mound as she collected the loss for the Stars.
Key Moments
• Maddy Lewis (Alameda, Calif.) scored in the first inning after she reached base on a hit-by-pitch and stole second to put herself in scoring position for Baltzell who hit a double that pushed her a cross the plate and gave the Stripes a 1-0 advantage.
• Following her RBI double, Baltzell advanced to third on a wild pitch and Gortarez drew a walk to put two runners on for Beth Greenwood (Amherst, N.H.) to send home with a single to left field, making it 3-0 for the Stripes in the first.
• Jamie Mackay (Newport Beach, Calif.) hit a lead-off single, advanced to second on a walk to Lewis and made it to third on a groundout before scoring on a balk to make it 4-0 in the Stripes favor in the fourth inning.
• Lewis then reached home on a sac-fly to center field by Baltzell, giving the Stripes a 5-0 lead in the fourth inning.
• Gortarez led off the fifth inning with a walk, moved to second on an error, and put the Stripes up 6-0 when a throwing error allowed her to cross the plate.
• Baum singled and came around to score on a Benites double to right field to put a run on the board for the Stars in the sixth inning, bringing the score to 6-1.
• Remi Schaber led off the seventh with a walk and travelled around the bases on a fly out and a ground out before reaching home on a balk to finalize the 7-1 win for the Stripes.

• The Stripes swept the three game set with the 7-1 victory on Friday.
• AJ Hamilton (Tallahassee, Fla.) led the Stripes with a .600 batting average (3-for-5), one single, two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored in the event.
• Megan Baltzell was a dominate figure for the Stripes as she ended the WNTDP batting .571 (4-for-7) and collecting two singles, a double, a triple, three RBIs and four runs.
• Kylee Lahners led the way for the Stars, batting .500 (3-for-6) with two singles and the only home run of the WNTDP. She also knocked in two RBIs and scored one run.
