MATCHUPS

Marjory Stoneman Douglas vs. D.H. Conley

The first opening round matchup of Pod 2 features two teams making their NHSI debuts. D.H. Conley could look to UNC-commit Matthew Matthijis on the mound in the opener, while Stoneman Douglas has a pair of aces – Chris Arroyo and Christian Rodriguez – who combined to go 17-0 on the mound last season. Whoever gets the start for Stoneman Douglas will have to face a tough D.H. Conley lineup that includes Eastern Carolina 3A/4A Player of the Year Dixon Williams.

Regis Jesuit vs. Yucaipa

Two loaded offenses will battle in this opening round game, with Dallas Macias and Isaac Wacshmann leading the Regis Jesuit offense against Yucaipa’s powerful lineup led by Danny Arambula, Jacob Reimer, and Luke Scherrer. Returning arm Brooks Gerig could get the start on the bump for Regis Jesuit, while Yucaipa might send Carter Herrera to the mound after he won seven games in 2021.

ROUND 2

The team that advances from this pod will take on the school that emerges from Pod 1, which includes Basic Academy (Henderson, Nev.), Hanover (Mechanicsville, Va.), Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.), and The First Academy (Orlando, Fla.).
