AGUASCALIENTES, Mexico - The USA Baseball Women's National Team dominated the Dominican Republic 19-2 in game two of the 2019 COPABE Women's Pan-American Championships with the help of a 12-run second inning on Monday at Parque Deportivo Ferrocarrilero in Aguascalientes, Mexico. 

The U.S. jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning courtesy of a bases-loaded single to right field by Malaika Underwood (San Diego, Calif.) that scored three runs. Team USA extended its lead in the bottom of the second with 12 runs scored on five hits. 

Kylee Lahners (Laguna Hills, Calif.) and Underwood both had multi-hit games, including Underwood's single in the first inning to give Team USA the lead and Lahners' first home run of the tournament that gave the U.S. its final three runs of the game.

Brittany Schutte (Fountain Valley, Calif.) was the starting pitcher for Team USA in game two and collected the win, scattering three hits and striking out three batters. Meggie Meidlinger (Sterling, Va.), Kate Blunt (Ladera Ranch, Calif.), Kelsie Whitmore (Temecula, Calif.) and Ashton Lansdell (Mariette, Ga.) all tossed the ball in relief. They combined for two runs on three hits and each struck out one batter. 

Key Moments

• Alex Hugo (Olathe, Kan.) led off the bottom of the first with a double to right and Lahners and Jade Gortarez (Riverside, Calif.) followed with walks to load the bases for Underwood, whose single to right scored three runs for Team USA, making it 3-0.
• Three walks loaded the bases in the bottom of the second for Lahners, whose double to centerfield extended the lead to 5-0.
• Gortarez hit a double to center field to score Hugo, who reached base on a walk, for a 6-0 lead.
• Gortarez and Lahners scored on an RBI-single off the bat of Underwood to make the score 8-0 in the bottom of the second.
• Whitmore made it 9-0 when she sent Underwood home on a double to center field in the second inning.
• Megan Baltzell (Stafford, Va) and Whitmore extend the U.S. lead to 11-0 in the second inning when they scored on a bases-loaded walk and a hit-by-pitch, respectively.
• Lahners doubled in the second inning and gave the red, white, and blue a 13-0 lead, sending Lansdell and AJ Hamilton (Tallahasee, Fla.)
• Two more runs scored for Team USA in the second inning courtesy of a bases-loaded walk and a hit-by-pitch, ending the inning at 15-0.
• The Dominican Republic put up two runs in the top of the third inning to make a 15-2 game.
• Hamilton reached base on an error by the first baseman to lead off the bottom of the third inning and scored on a fielder's choice by Hugo, making the score 16-2.
• A fielders choice and a single by Hugo and Landsell put runners on first and second for Lahners, who cleared the bases with a three-run homer over the left field wall in the bottom fo the third, allowing Team USA to end the game due to the run rule.
