PHOENIX — USA Prime National 14U erased a four-run deficit across the final two innings to clinch a spot in the quarterfinals of the 14U National Team Championships Arizona with an 8-7 win against Canes West Black on Monday at Goodyear Ballpark (Indians 6).

USA Prime trailed 6-2 after five innings and 6-3 entering the final frame before three errors, a pair of walks and timely hits with runners aboard sparked the comeback. Dean Hannah's three-run triple to right with one out put USA Prime in the lead for good and Myles Mayse sealed the victory despite a treacherous bottom half of the seventh in which the potential tying run stood on second base.

Canes West Black struck first and put up two runs in the first inning courtesy of an RBI-groundout from Anthony Montez and a single up the middle off the bat of Cole Weinstein.

However, USA Prime had a response at the ready as Josiah Hartshorn's run-scoring single in the second and Kayson Cunningham's RBI-single in the third tied the game in quick fashion.

Nathan Senior plated a run to help Canes West Black regain the lead in the bottom half of the third and the team extended its lead to 6-2 with a trio of runs in the fifth, which included another two-run base knock from Senior.

USA Prime refused to go down without a fight, however, and Hartshorn's RBI-single to center kept the team within striking distance in the sixth before the impressive seventh-inning comeback in which 11 batters came to the plate.

Canes West put the potential tying run on base when Montez reached safely on a grounder, allowing Braden Butler to race home. However, Mayse stayed composed for USA Prime and induced another ground ball, fielded by Caleb Danzeisen, to close out the Round of 16 victory.

USA Prime National (5-1) will face off against San Diego Longhorns (6-0) in the quarterfinals of the 2021 14U National Team Championships Arizona.

Canes West Black concludes its time at the event with a 5-1 record.
