Alpha Prime’s Julian Cazares made a statement on the mound early in the game, forcing a ground out and registering two strikeouts in the first frame. Cazares continued his stellar showing in the second inning, punching out three straight batters in just 13 pitches. Cazares kept Team Elite off of the board in the third and fourth innings, facing six batters to collect six straight outs. In the bottom of the fourth, Alpha Prime registered its first two runs of the day, allowing Cazares to comfortably continue his work on the bump. After the early run, Wow Factor pitcher Taylor Latham settled in, forcing two groundouts and registering a strikeout in his second inning of action. With momentum shifting its way, Wow Factor drove in four runs in the top of the third, capping off the rally with a bases-loaded walk to take a 4-1 lead. Latham continued to lock in, punching out two batters to round out the third frame in the process. In the top of the fourth, Wow Factor collected another run, pushing its lead to four. In response, Power Baseball drove one home on a Grant Sheppard RBI single to cut the deficit to just three. Weston Peterson came on in relief for Wow Factor and sealed the deal, pitching 2.2 innings of scoreless baseball. Latham ended his outing tossing 4.1 frames, collecting six strikeouts while only allowing three hits.

Aces National Pitching Duo Coleman Borthwick and Hudson Alpert Combine for Eight K’s in 3-2 Win

The matchup between Aces National and Canes National was primarily a defensive contest, with neither team scoring a run until the fourth inning thanks to an Andrew Costello RBI triple and a Beau Peterson sun-scoring single. After giving up two runs in the fourth inning, Aces’ pitcher Coleman Borthwick settled in and collected two strikeouts in the top of the fifth inning to bring his strikeout total to six. With the Aces down by two, Hudson Alpert was summoned to the mound where he collected a strikeout and forced two groundouts, giving his squad a shot at regaining the lead. In the bottom of the sixth, the Aces’ bats answered when John Stowers singled to left and Borthwick singled to right to drive in a combined three runs to take the lead. Alpert held strong on his post in the seventh with a 1-2-3 inning, including another K, to help his squad clinch the 3-2 win.

East Cobb Astros’ Matthew McClenan put on a show, tossing a complete game to give his squad the competitive edge over EBC Wright. McClenan ran through the EBC lineup quickly in the first two innings, collecting two strikeouts while only facing seven batters in that span. In the third frame, McClenan continued his dominance by forcing two pop outs and a ground out. The Astros’ offense helped McClenan out in the top of the fourth, giving him a two-run cushion to work with. EBC answered by scoring a run in both the fifth and sixth innings, tying the game 2-2 going into the seventh. East Cobb’s offense went on a four-run rally in the top of the seventh, capped off by Emani Ford driving in a run on a sacrifice fly. With a four-run lead, McClenan got back into shape, tallying his last strikeout of the day and securing the Astros the win.

Alpha Prime’s Matthew Maxon showed out on the mound, tossing 4.2 frames and collecting six strikeouts while only allowing one hit. Maxon started to get hot in the second inning, forcing two groundouts and tallying a punchout in three straight at-bats. His offense helped him out in the bottom of the fifth by adding a run to give Alpha Prime the lead. Marcus Greis came on in relief and tossed 2.1 innings while notching four strikeouts of his own, helping Alpha Prime get into the win column.
