CARY, N.C. – USA Baseball today finalized the 26-man roster for the 2025 Collegiate National Team, which will compete in the 45th USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Series in various locations across Japan from July 8-13.
“After a very competitive Stars versus Stripes series, we are excited to announce the twenty-six players who will represent the United States on international soil in the USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Series,” said Eric Campbell, USA Baseball’s Professional and Collegiate National Team General Manager. “We are confident that the roster assembled will represent our country well, and we look forward to making the trip back to Japan for the first time since 2019 and continuing this long-standing series, which dates back to 1972.”
Overall, the roster features 10 USA Baseball alumni in Eric Becker (Virginia), Drew Burress (Georgia Tech), Jason DeCaro (North Carolina), Jacob Dudan (NC State), Gabe Gaeckle (Arkansas), AJ Gracia (Virginia), Ryan McPherson (Mississippi State), Liam Peterson (Florida), Brett Renfrow (Virginia Tech), and Zion Rose (Louisville). For Burress, this will be his third time representing the stars and stripes after playing for the 2019 15U National Team that won gold at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-15 Baseball World Cup Americas Qualifier as well as last year’s Collegiate National Team. McPherson is also a 15U National Team alum after playing on the squad in 2021, so this will mark his second time being member of a national team. Becker, DeCaro, Dudan, Gaeckle, Gracia, Peterson, Renfrow, and Rose will also all be making their second appearance in a Team USA uniform, as they were all on last year’s Collegiate National Team.
Arkansas boasts three players on the 2025 Collegiate National Team, the most of any school, while Georgia Tech, Louisville, Mississippi State, NC State, Oregon State, UCLA, North Carolina, and Virginia all have two players on the roster. Overall, 16 different schools are represented on the roster, as seven other schools have one player on the team.
The 45th USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Championship Series will begin with games on July 8 and 9 at Es Con Field in Hokkaido, Japan, at 4 a.m. ET/6 p.m. local. The next two games will be held July 11 and 12 at Hard Off Eco Stadium in Niigata, Japan, at 3 a.m. ET/5:00 p.m. local and 10 p.m. ET/12 p.m. local, respectively. The series will wrap up with a lone game in Tokyo at Jingu Stadium at 3 a.m. ET/5:00 p.m. local. Team USA leads the series with Japan 24-20 (Overall: 135-110-2).
The 2025 Collegiate National Team will be led by manager Andy Stankiewicz, and he will be joined by Rusty Filter (pitching coach), Omar Johnson (first base coach), Bill Mosiello (third base coach), Carlos Muñoz (bullpen coach), and Don Wakamatsu (bench/hitting coach).
Additionally, 30 players from this year’s Collegiate National Team Training Camp will make up a Collegiate National Team Prospects squad that will play the Appalachian League Select Team on July 4 at 6:35 p.m. ET Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Jonathan Hernandez will manage the Collegiate National Team Prospects squad, and he will be joined by Michael Choice (first base coach), Dan Hartleb (bench/hitting coach), LaTroy Hawkins (pitching coach), Joe McGowan (bullpen catcher), and Dave Tollett (third base coach).
