PEORIA, Ariz - David Lozano's effort on the mound, combined with PBA's eight runs on nine hits carried the team to gold over Tri County Baseball Club at the 14U National Team Championships on Sunday morning at the Peoria Sports Complex.
Lozano went the distance for PBA today, tossing six strikeouts and scattering four hits on his way to a complete game shut-out in just five innings of work. He threw 10 Ks in the tournament and did not give up a single run.
PBA's offense dominated against Tri County. Five athletes collected hits in the contest, including Dean West (1-for-3), Lozano (2-for-3), Duncan Marsten (2-for-2), Vincent Cervantes (2-for-2) and Will Gasparino (2-for-3).
Jack Kelman and Marsten got the scoring frenzy started in the bottom of the second when Marsten singled on a line drive to center and scored on a Kelman sac-fly to left. PBA broke the lead wide open with four runs scored in the bottom of the third.
PBA sealed the deal in the bottom of the fourth. Two walks and a single loaded the bases for Cervantes who hit a two run double to score Benjamin Reiland and Caden Abraham and make is 8-0 in PBA's favor.
