Champs Arizona 16U Pool Play Day Two Group One Roundup

Day two of pool play in the 16U National Team Championships in Arizona is here. Each of the tournament’s 64 squads are set to play a doubleheader in either Surprise or Peoria, Arizona in an effort to punch their ticket to bracket play on Saturday. Let’s go through all the highlights from this morning’s slate of games.

Surprise, Arizona

Early morning baseball from Surprise included EJ Sports Warriors’ close 6-5 win over GBG Navy. The Warriors got out to a 6-2 lead early on and never let go of its advantage, no matter how close GBG got to pulling off a comeback. Both NorCal and Texas Twelve Red Sox shut out their respective opponents at the Texas Rangers’ spring training facility — NorCal downed Prime Navy 5-0 and Texas Twelve shut out Prime Navy 4-0. To finish off the group, FS21 Stars beat GBG Navy American in a blowout, putting up a 12-1 victory over its opponents after run-ruling GBG in just four frames.

CCB Prime beat GBG Inland Empire in a 4-0 rout at the Kansas City Royals’ spring training complex early on in the desert. The Scottsdale Dirtbags also put on a shutout, defeating Trosky Force in four innings after putting up 10 unanswered runs. Prime Red also captured a dominant win, defeating Legacy Baseball Group 16U Gold in a 9-1 rout thanks to its seven runs in the third inning. Quakes Baseball Academy walked off Slammers Akerfelds in an exciting end to the group, breaking a 5-5 deadlock for a 6-5 victory.

Late-morning baseball at the Rangers’ facilities saw GBG Navy American avenge its earlier loss in an 8-4 win over Swarm Red Elite National. Texas Twelve doubled down on its shutout from the early session with a 8-0 shutout over EJ Sports Warriors that took only five innings to complete. Nor Cal and FS21 Stars both put on dominant victories in their second games of the day. Nor Cal beat GBG Navy American 13-2 while FS21 Stars throttled Prime Navy 16-2.

GBG Inland Empire picked up its first win of the day in a 7-2 win over Quakes Baseball Academy to start action at the Royals’ quad in the second session of games. While the Scottsdale Dirtbags’ 5-4 win over Legacy Baseball Group was close thanks to Scottsdale’s four-run, sixth-inning comeback effort, the other two games on the Royals’ quad weren’t nearly as tight. In fact, CCB Prime White and Prime Red beat their respective opponents by a combined score of 38-2. CCB Prime put up a 12-run third and a 10-run fourth to quickly shut down Slammers Akerfelds in four frames while Prime Red shut out Trosky Force 16-0.

Peoria, Arizona

Both Stacked Baseball and the San Diego Show beat their respective opponents in 4-0 wins at the Seattle Mariners’ spring training facilities in Peoria. Stacked earned its shutout over Next Level Baseball after plating three in the first two frames and the Show beat The Rock Baseball Club after allowing just three hits. USA Prime 4 Corners walked off the West Coast A’s 3-2 early on in Peoria in an exciting, low-scoring affair. Once the A’s shook off a 2-0 deficit in the top of the seventh and tied the game, USA answered with the walk-off run just a half-inning later. To round off action on the Mariners’ quad, Team Cal Warriors shut out Rawlings Tigers OC 11-0, putting a run rule into effect after four innings.

TB Socal Evoshield continued the day’s streak of shutouts with a 9-0 rout over So Cal Birds White that ended after five frames. Team Kado Hawaii beat Trosky American 6-2 while the Long Beach Bears captured an impressive 12-1 win over Total Baseball Vipers - National after putting up eight in the fourth and final inning of its bout at the San Diego Padres’ spring training facility. Ghost National beat Trosky Arizona 2026 Regional in an exciting, back-and-forth game that Ghost National took 6-5.

The San Diego Show won its second game of the day in a close 7-6 victory over Stacked Baseball after surviving its opponents’ late-game comeback. Two more one-run, 6-5 bouts were won by Rawlings Tigers OC and Team Cal Warriors at the Mariners’ quad in the late morning. Rawlings beat West Coast A’s in a back-and-forth battle while Team Cal overcame a 5-0 first-inning deficit over the course of its game with USA Prime 4 Corners. The only game that wasn’t close in the group featured Next Level Baseball’s 6-0 shutout win over The Rock Baseball Club after Next Level plated all six of its runs in the fourth.

TB SoCal put on the last shutout of the first group of baseball on the second day of pool play at 16U Champs Arizona, only allowing two hits in its 8-0 win over Team Kado Hawaii. So Cal Birds Orange beat Trosky American by a score of 7-4 while the Long Beach Bears took down Trosky Arizona 2026 Regional 9-7 in extra innings after putting up a four-run eight frame. To finish off all the action from the first group, Ghost National walked off Total Baseball Vipers - National after trailing 6-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh. Some clutch hitting granted Ghost National a heroic 7-6 win for its second victory of the day.
