CARY, N.C. – USA Baseball today announced the coaching staff for the 2025 16U/17U National Team Development Program (NTDP). This year’s NTDP is scheduled for July 23-27 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina.
The 2025 staff includes a mix of current high school coaches, college coaches, and former professional baseball players. Travis Buck, Chris Davis, Seth Etherton, Troy Glaus, Luke Gregerson, Matt Guerrier, and Jonathan Lucroy all bring at least four years of MLB playing experience to the NTDP, while Brooks Badeaux (Teurlings High School) and Jared Halpert (Harvard-Westlake School) boast extensive high school coaching experience. AJ Battisto, Charles Bolden (Georgetown), Buck (Loyola Marymount), Rob Cooper (Miami-FL), and David Kopp (Florida) come to the NTDP with a bevy of experience at the college ranks.
“We are very excited about the staff we have assembled for this year’s National Team Development Program,” said USA Baseball Director of Player Development Jim Koerner. “With coaches from every part of the baseball world, this staff will offer incredible guidance to the best 16-and-17-year-old baseball players in the United States. Participants of the National Team Development Program will be surrounded by experience and knowledge that will positively impact their baseball future.”
In total, the 2025 16U/17U NTDP coaching staff combines for 70 years of MLB playing experience, 54 seasons of coaching at the college level, and 18 years of high school coaching experience. Badeaux, Cooper, Glaus, and Halpert will serve as managers, while Battisto, Etherton, Guerrier, and Kopp assume pitching coach duties. Bolden, Buck, Davis, and Lucroy are set to be the assistant coaches.
This year’s NTDP will feature 72 players split into four teams. In addition to competing in three games in round-robin format, players will take part in on-field workouts, skill development sessions, and off-field educational seminars, and gain exposure to professional scouts, college recruiters, USA Baseball staff, and national team coaches. Additionally, the coaching staff will assess and evaluate players for possible future participation in USA Baseball national team programming.
The 2025 16U/17U NTDP will take place from July 23-27 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. The roster will include players identified from the National Team Championships in Arizona and North Carolina, as well as last year’s 15U and 16U National Team Identification Series (NTIS) Champions Cup.
