CARY, N.C. – The action continued Friday at USA Baseball’s 2026 15U National Team Training Camp Phase 1 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. Team Grey claimed a 13-5 victory over Team Navy thanks to an offensive downpour, while Team Light Blue and Team Red tied 5-5 in an epic back-and-forth finish.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The bats were on fire early as Team Grey racked up five runs on four hits and one walk in the top of the first. Greyson Wuis kicked things off with a double to left on the second pitch of the game, then scored on a triple down the right field line by Ryan Nicolaus. Back-to-back RBI base knocks from Brody Brooks and Paxton Scoggin pushed the lead to four, and Jackson McAneeley capped the inning off with a sac fly RBI to center.
• Team Grey got on the board again in the top of the second when Chris Worrell Jr. singled to center and scored on another RBI from Nicolaus.
• Matias Pelaez cruised through his first two innings on the bump, striking out three Team Navy batters and allowing no runs.
• The hit parade continued for Team Grey in the third, as McAneeley laced an RBI double to left then scored on a base hit by Worrell Jr.
• Team Navy finally scratched a run across in the bottom of the third after Mason Doan singled and scored on a ground ball, making the score 8-1 Grey.
• Team Grey piled on three more runs in the fourth to go up 11-1. Brooks picked up his second RBI of the day on a single to center and Scoggin drove in two more on a hard grounder up the middle.
• The Navy bats came alive in the bottom of the fourth, as four straight batters reached base to start the frame. The inning was highlighted by an RBI single from Calvin Madenspacher and a liner to center from Jonah Hargrave that scored two and cut the deficit to 11-5.
• Nolan Bingham pitched the first clean inning of the game for Team Navy in the fifth. The Texas native induced two groundouts before freezing a Team Red hitter with a fastball on the corner for strike three.
• Team Grey got to Bingham in the sixth, however, with Nicolaus and Brooks trading doubles to put Grey up 12-5.
• Worrell Jr.’s third hit of the day, a double off the centerfield wall in the top of the seventh, scored the 13th and final run of the game for Team Grey.
• Tyler Early closed the game for Grey with two scoreless innings of relief. The 6-foot-2 southpaw struck out four batters and walked none.

NOTABLE STATS

• Team Grey out-hit Team Navy handedly with 14 base knocks on the game. Nicolaus, Brooks, and Worrell Jr. led all batters with three hits apiece.
• Brooks and Scoggin led the way with three RBIs each. Hargrave topped Team Navy hitters with two runs driven in, good for his second multi-RBI performance of the week.
• Brooks also led all hitters by reaching four times in the game, while Nicolaus finished with a game-leading six total bases.
• Early was the lone pitcher of the game to record a scoreless outing. He also allowed only one hit and tied Pelaez with a game-high four punchouts.

Team Light Blue 5, Team Red 5

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Each starting pitcher got off to a sharp start, as Nate Handley-White punched out two batters in a scoreless first frame for Team Red and Noah Osterman did the same for Team Light Blue.
• After Jacob Reyes singled in the top of the second for Team Light Blue, Luca Briggs plated the first run of the game on a fly ball single to right, putting Light Blue up 1-0.
• Both starters continued to cruise, with Osterman tossing three scoreless innings with only one hit allowed. Handley-White exited after three frames as well with four punchouts and only one earned run.
• Team Light Blue jumped on the bullpen quickly in the top of the fourth. Matti Di Maggio worked a walk to lead off the inning before stealing second. Mason Devine roped a liner to center a few pitches later to score Di Maggio and stretch the Light Blue lead to 2-0.
• Mason Miller got in on the action in the fifth inning when he ripped an RBI single to put Light Blue up 3-0. He came in to score Light Blue’s fourth run after a sac bunt moved him to third and Chase Hallett’s sac fly drove him home.
• A leadoff single from Lucas Ota-Salas finally got the Team Red bats going in the bottom of the fifth. Paris Head capitalized on the opportunity with a clutch two-out single to right field to score Ota-Salas and make the score 4-1.
• Team Red inched closer in the sixth thanks to the first home run of the week, a solo blast to left off the bat of Jason Spray Jr. Back-to-back singles from Jesse Maddox and Walker McCrory put the tying run on base, and a wild pitch sent the runners moving. An errant throw from Team Light Blue allowed Maddox to trot home, cutting the Light Blue lead to 4-3.
• Things got tense in the top of the seventh after Light Blue’s Kolt Hampton laced a leadoff double into the left-center gap and advanced to third on a throwing error. Team Red brought the infield in, and Ray Hunter made a clutch diving play at second to save a run. Miller squeaked a hard chopper through the left side, however, scoring Hampton and upping the Light Blue lead to 5-3.
• Head breathed life into Team Red with a leadoff single to left, then raced to second on a fielding error. Spray Jr. continued his hot hitting by stroking a single into center two batters later, cutting the deficit to 5-4 and putting the tying run on base. Back-to-back groundball singles from Brandon Sweeney and Maddox loaded the bases with one out, and McCrory capitalized with a single to center to tie the ballgame.
• With one out and the bases juiced, Team Light Blue’s Miller saved the game with a barehanded play and a quick throw home for the force out. Finally, Light Blue pitcher Carlo Rivero escaped the jam with a clutch strikeout to end the rally and complete the game in a tie.

NOTABLE STATS

• Team Red out-hit Team Light Blue 11-8, and six different batters posted multi-hit efforts: Head, Maddox, McCrory, Miller, Reyes, and Spray Jr.
• Spray Jr. and Miller led all hitters with two RBIs apiece, with Spray’s five total bases representing the game high.
• Lathan Boddie of Team Red notched the only shutout outing in relief of the game. He struck out a pair, walked none, and allowed zero hits.
