PHOENIX — Zach Edwards filled the box score to help lift MBA Navy 2024 to the 15U gold-medal game and earn Player of the Day honors for July 6 at the National Team Championships Arizona.
Edwards, who collected three hits, four RBI, two runs, two walks and two stolen bases in MBA Navy's quarterfinal and semifinal contests, powered his team to wins over the No. 5 and No. 16 teams in the tournament.
Edwards' RBI-single through the left side tied the game for MBA Navy in the opening frame of its quarterfinal game against PFA Matadors, and his two-run single in the fifth put MBA Navy in the lead for good.
The Oregon State commit followed upon his impressive performance with another standout effort in MBA Navy's semifinal game against TB SoCal Baseball. Edwards scored as part of a three-run first inning for MBA Navy later recorded an RBI-double.
Edwards owns a standout .400/.480/.650 slash line with four extra-base hits and a team-leading 10 RBI through eight games at the tournament.
MBA Navy 2024 (8-0) will square off against Trosky National 2024 (7-1) with a gold medal on the line at the 15U National Team Championships at 10 a.m. MT at Peoria Sports Complex (main stadium).
Quinten Marsh struck out 10 batters across 6.1 scoreless innings to capture the Pitcher of the Day honor for July 6 at the 14U National Team Championships Arizona.
Marsh, whose Trosky National 2025 squad came away with a 4-0 win against CBA Las Vegas to close the tournament, needed just 80 pitches to work into the seventh. The 5-foot-11 southpaw struck out three of the first four batters he faced and fanned at least one batter in all but one frame.
Marsh tossed 68 percent of his pitches for strikes in the victory, which marked Trosky National 2025's fourth consecutive win to end the 14U tournament.
