SURPRISE, Ariz. - In a semifinal matchup of the 16U National Team Championships in Arizona, the Sports Academy Dukes launched an epic comeback win, putting up five runs in the final two frames to walk off on Trosky Baseball 16U National, 5-4, on Saturday afternoon at Surprise Stadium. With the win, the squad advances to the gold medal game tomorrow at noon.

After a quiet first inning for both teams, Trosky broke the silence first with two runs in the top of the second inning. Rebounding from a leadoff flyout, Matthew Halbach followed with a single and Jordan Davis followed with a walk to put two on with one out. That set the table for Greysen Carter, who stepped up to knock a two-RBI double, putting his team up 2-0.

Nick Mclain started on the hill for Trosky, scattering three hits across five innings of work without having given up a run. On the other side of the field, Andrew Lopez was solid in relief for the Dukes, giving up just one unearned run off two hits in 1 2/3 innings.

Trosky added another run in the fourth and some more insurance in the sixth, capitalizing off a throwing error by the Dukes to send a runner across the plate to make it a 4-0 Trosky lead.

Down but not out, the Dukes fought back in the home half of the sixth as an error, single, hit-by-pitch and double to begin the frame added up to three runs on the board, cutting their deficit to just 4-3. Although there were none out, the Trosky defense notched a ground out and a double play to limit the damage to three.

The Dukes stepped up to the plate in their final chance of the afternoon down by just one run. They got off to a good start, getting their first batter on base through a hit-by-pitch. Mike Flores drove a RBI-double into the gap to tie the ballgame up at four, and the next batter followed with a walk to leave it up to Liam Rocha. He came in clutch for his team, knocking a walk off single to plate a run to win, 5-4.
