PEORIA - Day one of the 15U National Team Championships opened up on a high note, as Draven Nushida and Denger have been named Player and Pitcher of the Day, respectively, for their performances today.
Team Kado Hawaii Elite's Nushida had a big day at the plate for his team, notching five hits in seven plate appearances this afternoon. Nushida had three doubles and two singles, knocking in four RBI and also scoring four runs across two games. Elite opened up the morning with a 13-5 win over PFA Next Level and finished up with another dominating win, this time an 11-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Denger of GE - Northern California dazzled on the mound today, tossing five innings while keeping the Reggie Smith Academy completely off the board. NAME sprinkled just three hits across his outing without allowing a run. He also struck out eight while walking two in GE's 5-0 blanking of RSA.
