Stacked, PRD Battle Way Into Championship Game

Stacked Rides Four-Run First to Take Down ZT Prospects National 4-3 in the Semifinals of the 14U National Team Championships

CARY, N.C. – Despite not registering a hit past the first inning, Taytum Reeves and the Stacked Baseball defense staved off ZT Prospects for a 4-3 victory in the semifinals of the 14U National Team Championships in North Carolina.

With the win, Stacked stays undefeated and improves to 5-0 in the tournament to head to the championship game where the team will face PRD.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • All of Stacked’s runs came across in the bottom of the first with Tanner Brown starting the rally with a two-out, line-drive RBI single. Andrew Jimenez followed suit and launched a 3-2 pitch off the left field wall for a bases-clearing triple. A wild pitch capped off the four-run frame and allowed Jimenez to cross home plate.
  • ZT Prospects also limited its offense to a single frame, as its three-run third was kicked off by Angel Acuna’s first pitch swinging for a leadoff double. Carter Hadnot took advantage and sent a line drive to left to plate the first run. Broder Katke then pummeled a 3-2 offering to left field and trimmed the deficit to a single run.

NOTABLE STATS

  • Reeves pitched 6.0 innings for Stacked, as he struck out four and allowed only three to cross the plate.
  • Jimenez came on in the seventh and struck out two to earn the save. He also took control at the plate, as he drove in half of Stacked’s runs on his one hit and scored once.
  • Katke went 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of singles for ZT Prospects, the catcher drove in two runs in the process.
  • Ayden Coleman also collected a trio of base hits, as he went 3-for-4 and scored a run for ZT Prospects.

Stacked will face PRD in the gold medal match of the 14U National Team Championships in North Carolina, with first pitch set for 11:15 a.m. at Coleman Field. The contest will be streamed at USABaseball.TV, and live updates will be provided via @USABScores on Twitter.

PRD Triumphs Over Dulins Dodgers Prime in 10-3 Victory at 14U National Team Championships

CARY, N.C. – Despite falling behind early in the game, PRD registered eight hits on the day to rally against the Dodgers in a 10-3 victory to advance to the gold medal game of the 14U National Team Championships in North Carolina.

With the win, PRD improves to 3-2 at the event and will meet Stacked Baseball in a battle for the title of champion.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • PRD took an early 1-0 lead in the first as Nathaniel Fuller doubled to center to score Curt Friedrich.
  • PRD added a run in the second and third off two hits to even the score at 3-3.
  • PRD batted around in the fourth to plate four runs on two hits and four walks to take the lead 7-3.
  • Three more insurance runs crossed home for PRD in the sixth on a fielder’s choice and a run walked in to get the 10-3 victory over the Dodgers.
  • All three of Dulins Dodgers’ runs came in the first when Koen Isaacson crossed home on a wild pitch, followed by a two-run RBI single up the middle from Jaxon Knapp.

NOTABLE STATS

  • Brodie Campbell helped lead PRD’s offense by going 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a walk.
  • Weller had a stellar outing on the mound for PRD, as he came on relief in the first inning. He was credited the win, pitching 6.1 innings only allowing two hits and striking out five batters.
  • Joshua Burkholder struck out the final batter of the game and went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a walk.
  • Knapp led the Dodgers offense with a 1-for-2 day with the only two RBIs for his squad.
