
CARY, N.C. – The 2025 Women’s National Team Development Program concluded on Sunday, October 19, with the Stripes earning a 13-2 win over the Stars. The Stripes plated 10 of its 13 runs across the first two innings and used solid pitching to finish the event with a perfect 4-0 record.
AS IT HAPPENED
- The Stripes picked up where they left off on Saturday, tallying four consecutive hits to take an early lead in the first inning. Jamie Baum started the spark with a one-out single, Naomi Ryan followed with a base hit, and then Mia Kruspe hit a line drive single to plate Baum for the first run. Kylee Lahners kept the hot start going by delivering a double to left center on the next at-bat to plate two more runs.
- The Stripes plated five more runs on as many hits in the second. Sophia Broderick led off the frame with a double to left field, moved to third on an Amira Hondras single, then scored on Valerie Perez’s RBI single to left field. Perez proceeded to cross home plate on Baum’s RBI triple to right field, and Baum came home on Ryan’s RBI double to left field. After Ryan stole third, she eventually scored on Kruspe’s sacrifice fly to left.
- The Stars got on the board in the fifth on an attempted double steal. Kaija Bazzano led off the side with a double, moved to third on a single to center field by Gabrielle Haas, and scored on the attempt with Ashton Lansdell heading to second after she reached on a fielder’s choice.
- With runners at the corners and one out, a fielder’s choice followed by a Demi Chaney RBI triple and an RBI groundout pushed three late runs across to extend the Stripes lead in the sixth.
- The Stars plated a late run in the seventh on Lansdell’s RBI double, driving in Bazzano after she led off with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, but was unable to overcome its late deficit.
NOTABLES
- The Stripes pitching staff held the Stars to two runs on eight hits and racked up four strikeouts. Jordan Andreas threw three shutout innings, while Akira Kopec and Lauren Schwab surrendered one earned run apiece in two innings pitched.
- Jacqueline Reynolds and Gabrielle Haas threw scoreless outings for the Stars, as Reynolds yielded one hit and a walk in two innings of work, while Haas tossed an inning and gave up just one hit.
- At the plate, Baum and Schaber led all players with three hits apiece. Baum finished the WNTDP with a .583 batting average and Schaber finished with a .462 clip.
- Jorge, Lansdell, and Ryan all tallied two hits each to add to the multi-hit outings.
- Baum, Kruspe, and Lahners all had two RBIs in the contest while Baum, Perez, and Ryan all scored a game-high two runs each.
