GAMEDAY: Stars and Stripes Set to Wrap Up 2021 13U/14U ADP Series

CARY, N.C. - After three days full of games, seminars, training, and testing, the 2021 13U/14U Athlete Development is set to wrap up on Thursday with the third and final Stars and Stripes game at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina.

The Stripes currently lead the series, 2-0, after a pair of offensive outbursts in the first two games of the series. They won the first matchup on Monday, 15-4, before notching a 14-3 win in Tuesday's contest. 

Notable Information

  • Gavin Fien is leading the Stripes with four hits, batting .571 in seven at-bats. Dillon Adkins (3-for-4), Riley Brown (3-for-5), and Ryan Harwood (3-for-6) have also paced the offense for the Stripes in the series.
  • Josiah Hartshorn's .714 (5-for-7) average leads all players in the event. Brady Murrietta (2-for-4), Luke Pappano (2-for-5), and Colt Springall (2-for-4) also have multiple hits in the series for the Stars.
  • On the mound, Stripes' pitcher Tayden-Evan Kaawa's five strikeouts are a series-best. Brady Ebel struck out four for the Stars in his three innings of work.
  • The ADP is led by field coordinator Drew Briese and pitching coordinator Scott Grove, both who have experience working with USA Baseball. 
  • The Stars are managed by former MLB All-Star and University of Texas assistant coach Troy Tulowitzki, while the Stars are led by University of Michigan head coach, Erik Bakich.
  • The ADP features unparalleled instruction provided by USA Baseball national team coaches, college coaches, and select premier high school coaches from across the country. The program includes skill development sessions, off-field educational seminars, an intrasquad series between Stars and Stripes teams, and exposure to professional scouts, college recruiters, and USA Baseball staff and national team coaches.
