Stripes Claim Game Four of 18U Trials at Dodger Stadium

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Propelled by Cayden Wallace's (Greenbrier, Ark.) two-run home run, the Stripes took down the Stars, 4-1, in the fourth game of the 18U National Team Trials series on Friday at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Along with Wallace, Austin Hendrick (Pittsburgh, Pa.) helped lead the Stripes offense as he finished 1-for-2 with two RBIs of his own. Jordan Lawlar (Irving, Texas) also collected a hit and scored a run for the squad. Harold Coll (Hyde Park, Mass.) and Yohandy Morales (Miami, Fla.) each collected a hit to pace the Stars at the plate on Friday.
Timmy Manning (Pompano Beach, Fla.) earned the win for the Stripes on the mound, giving up just one run in his two innings of relief, while the loss was attributed to Cam Brown (HOMETOWN) after he surrendered two runs in his inning of work.
KEY MOMENTS

  • Morales got the Stars offense started in the bottom of the third, singling and advancing to second on a Colby Halter (Jacksonville, Fla.) groundout to bring up Coll, who recorded an RBI-double to give the Stars the early 1-0 lead.
  • In the top of the fourth, Jordan Walker (Stone Mountain, Ga.) drew a one-out walk and Wallace launched a two-run bomb two batters later that gave the Stripes a 2-1 lead.
  • The Stripes added a couple insurance runs in the top of the eighth when Hunter Haas (Phoenix, Ariz.) doubled, Lawlar singled and stole a base and Hendrick drove them both in with a two-RBI single that gave the Stripes the 4-1 win.
