HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. – Using a plethora of hits, Team Stars was able to secure the series against Team Stripes at 15U National Team Training Camp. Out-hitting Team Stripes 15-to-6, Team Stars capitalized on their stellar hitting to win the series 2-1-1.
Team Stars lit it up on the mound, tallying 10 total strikeouts over 11 innings of work. Collectively, Team Stars secured the series win with an all-around performance, thanks to great pitching and hitting.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Back-to-back hits to start the game led to Team Stars getting their first run of the game off a Cullen Scott single, plating MacGraw VanWormer.
- With two outs, Noah Jarolimek smoked a double to center field, driving in Colin Anderson and Scott.
- Jhon Rodgriguez worked a clean first inning, punching out all three batters he faced on 15 pitches.
- Louis Lappe led off the second with a double to deep center field, followed by a single from Tre’ Lawrence. Back-to-back RBIs from Jayden Freeze and Tristin Gaines drove home two runs for Team Stripes.
- With the bases loaded, PJ Brush smacked a line drive single to center field, driving in two runs for Team Stars.
- Kingston Monette worked a quick three-up, three-down inning, retiring the side on seven pitches.
- Monette worked another seven-pitch inning, working through the minimum in two innings of work.
- A lead-off walk proved costly as Trent O’Malley drove in Jordan Leon in the bottom of the seventh.
- Team Stripes capped off a four-run seventh inning with Lawrence scoring on a double steal play.
- A first and third play led to a run for Team Stars. VanWormer scored after reaching with a walk to lead off the tenth.
- Team Stars found another run off a triple by Jarolimek that scored Brandon Manivong, giving the Stars their seventh run of the game.
- Two more runs found themselves on the board for Team Stars, highlighted by a sacrifice fly from Carter Gilley, scoring Maddox Porter after he reached with a double.
- O’Malley brought home a run in the bottom of the eleventh, reaching with an RBI double to center field.
NOTABLES:
- Rodriguez led all pitchers with three strikeouts.
- Recording the game high in RBIs was Jarolimek with three, while Brush and O’Malley followed with two each.
- Monette worked through two hitless innings on just 14 pitches, eight of which were strikes.
- Four players from Team Stars recorded multi-hit games: Jarolimek, Scott, Stewart, and Jason Marll Jr.
- Jarolimek also drew a game high of walks, walking three times in six plate appearances.
- Of the 15 hits for Team Stars, five of them were extra-base hits.
