CARY, N.C. – Alabama’s Tyler Fay put together a historic no-hit performance on March 21 en route to being named USA Baseball’s Golden Spikes Award x D1 Baseball Week 6 Player of the Week.
Fay recorded the ninth no-hitter in program history against then-No. 18 Florida in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He became the first Tide pitcher since 1942 to throw an individual 9.0-inning no-hitter (sixth to ever do so) and tossed Alabama's first no-hitter of any kind since 2014.
The redshirt junior right-hander improved to 4-2 on the season while setting career highs in innings pitched (9.0) and strikeouts (13). He issued two walks, retiring 27 of the 29 batters he faced, and struck out at least one batter in seven of his nine innings on the mound. Over his last three innings, Fay struck out six of the final nine batters he faced.
