Pitt’s Lorenzo Carrier Named Golden Spikes Player of the Week

CARY, N.C. – Pittsburgh’s Lorenzo Carrier put together a hot week at the plate en route to earning USA Baseball’s Golden Spikes Award x D1 Baseball Week 4 Player of the Week honors.

Carrier went 13-for-15 (.867 avg.) with 19 RBIs, 10 runs scored, five home runs, two triples, one double and 33 total bases while slugging 2.200 with a 3.095 OPS in Pitt's perfect 4-0 week.

In the Panther’s midweek contest vs. Ohio on March 4, he went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, a triple, a home run, and three runs scored. In their series against San Jose State, he started off the weekend with a career-high two home runs and eight RBIs in another 3-for-3 outing on March 6. Carrier followed up on March 7 with another career outing that featured a five-hit performance with another home run and triple. He concluded the week with a two-hit day on March 8 that included a double and his fifth home run of the week.

Carrier currently leads the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in RBIs (36) and slugging percentage (1.082) and ranks second in batting average (.490) and home runs (7).
