Canes, Alpha Prime Advance to 15U Champs Gold Medal Game

ALPHA PRIME BLANKS ZT PROSPECTS TO CLINCH SPOT IN TITLE GAME

Alpha Prime (5-0) used 14 hits to power past and shut out previously undefeated ZT Prospects National (4-1) to advance to the gold medal game in the 15U National Team Championships in North Carolina.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Cole Weinstein drove in the first run on a double to right center, giving Alpha Prime the game’s only run over the first four innings.
  • Alpha plated another two on the RBI triple from Dillion Moss and an RBI single from Weinstein in the top of the fifth to take a 3-0 edge.
  • Alpha Prime continued to tack on runs in the top of the seventh coming on a double from Moss and a single from Austin Finnegan to extend the lead to 5-0.
  • Dax Hardcastle singled and Parker Loew scored on a sacrifice fly to right before the final runs of the ball game came on a two run single from Jason Harris Jr., making it a 9-0 final.

NOTABLE STATS

  • Alpha Prime starter Marcus Greis went 5.0 innings with three strikeouts while surrendering no earned runs. Jason Harris Jr. came on in relief to continue the shutout while only giving up one hit.
    Moss led Prime, going 4-for-4 with two RBIs while Weinstein went 2-for-4 also with a pair of RBIs. Archer Horn also posted a multi-hit performance going 2-for-3. 
  • For ZT Prospects both Justin Lopez and Kingston Kela went 2-for-3 and Lopez had the only extra base hit of the day for the squad.

CANES NATIONAL ADVANCES TO TITLE GAME WITH 9-1 VICTORY OVER PRD

Canes National scored nine runs in a two-inning span to take down PRD, 9-1, and advance to the gold-medal game of the 15U National Team Championships in Cary, North Carolina. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Andrew Saccento opened the scoring in the second for PRD, singling to right field after a double to make it a 1-0 game.
  • Jaxon Matthews was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home Gunnar Alm and knot the game at one in the third.
  • A three-run double by Brady Murrietta cleared the bases in the bottom of the third and put Canes National in front, 4-1.
  • Murrietta scored on an error before a Hunter Harrington single plated the sixth run of the third inning for Canes National.
  • Alex Harrington hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Alm–who led off the fourth inning with a walk–to extend Canes’ lead to 7-1.
  • A bases-loaded hit-by-pitch followed by a walk added the final two runs of the game for Canes National as it earned a spot in the title game with a 9-1 win.

NOTABLE STATS

  • Murrietta drove in a game-high four runs, going 1-for-2 with a run scored and a walk.
  • Canes National displayed patience at the plate in the victory, drawing nine walks. Andrew Costello drew three bases on balls, and Alm and A. Harrington had two apiece.
  • Ty Tillery (4.0 innings) and Mateo Villanueva (1.0 inning) combined to shut out Canes National, striking out seven and allowing just one hit.
  • Saccento and Williams had the only two hits on the day for PRD. Saccento’s second inning RBI drove in PRD’s lone run of the contest. 

Canes National advances to the 15U National Team Championships North Carolina title game on Sunday, where it will take on Alpha Prime 2026. PRD will meet ZT Prospects in a battle for bronze. All games will be streamed live on USABaseball.TV.
