CARY, N.C. -- 2022 12U National Team Trials conclude on Friday morning with the final game of the Blue vs. Red series. First pitch is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. ET at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, North Carolina.
NOTABLE INFORMATION
- Team Blue picked up its first win of the series on Thursday morning, topping Team Red, 7-2.
- Jordan Leon drove in three runs in the win for Team Blue on Thursday. He is now batting .571 (4-for-7) with four RBIs during Trials.
- Anthony Bello leads the entire Trials series with a .714 average (5-for-7).
- Team Blue's Major Ciers pitched three scoreless innings in the win, becoming the sixth player to pitch for Team Blue and not allow a run through the first three games of the series.
- With three more stolen bases on Thursday, Team Red is now 9-for-10 on stolen bases in the series.
- Each side only committed one error in Thursday's game, raising their fielding percentages to .978 (Team Blue) and .971 (Team Red).
- The 36-man Trials roster was announced on Sunday afternoon after the conclusion of the 2022 11U Futures Invitational.
- The roster comprises 36 of the best 11-and-under players from across the entire country, selected by the USA Baseball Task Force throughout several different identification events.
- This year's Trials roster features players from 11 different states. California leads the way with 14 athletes on the roster, and Texas follows with seven representatives.
- Twenty-four players on this year's Trials roster were identified from the 2022 11U Futures Invitational. The other 12 were selected out of the 2021 National Team Identification Series (NTIS) Champions Cup, which took place last august in Cary, North Carolina.
- The 2022 12U National Team will be managed by second-year skipper RJ Farrell. After making his managerial debut in 2021 and going 3-0 against an exhibition schedule, Farrell will manage Team USA in international competition for the first time in 2022.
- Pitching coach Seth Kenny and assistant coaches Troy Gerlach and Tanner Vesely comprise the rest of the 2022 12U National Team staff. Kenny will make his international coaching debut, while Gerlach earned a gold medal with the 2018 15U National Team and Vesely has helped guide Team USA to four gold medals as both a manager and assistant coach.
- Team USA will compete at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-12 Baseball World Cup, from July 29-August in Tainan, Taiwan. The stars and stripes are looking to secure their world-best fourth gold medal in the tournament.
- The 2022 12U National Team will be announced on Friday, July 1.
