CARY, N.C. -- The Stars ended the three game set at the 14U National Team Development Program (NTDP) with a 9-5 victory over the Stripes on Wednesday afternoon at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. Both teams knocked in five RBI in the contest.
CJ Rice (Pleasanton, Calif.) collected the win for the Stars and scattered two hits with one walk and a strikeout. Connor Crisp (Locust Grove, Ga.), Kayne Killion (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Trent Abel (San Diego, Calif.) and Ian Duarte (Santa Clarita, Calif.) all spent time on the bump and combined for five runs on seven hits, three walks and two strikeouts. 
Nolan Stevens (Elk Grove, Calif.) took the loss for Stars, allowing one run on four hits across three innings of work. T.J. Dunsford (Grand Bay, Ala.), Justin Corless (Chandler, Ariz.) and Ty Southisene (Las Vegas, Nev.) also put in work on the mound for the Stripes in the contest.

• The Stars scored in the top of the first when lead off batter Keilon Parnell (Pascagoula, Calif.) reached first on a hit-by-pitch and scored on a ground ball single to third off the bat of Gavin Grahovac (Orange, Calif.).
• The Stars scored again in the first when Brandon Chang (Irvine, Calif.) hit a sac-fly to center that scored Spencer Butt (Davie, Fla.) who was walked, stole second, and reached third on Grahovac's single, making the score 2-0. 
• Ben Reiland (Irvine, Calif.) scored the first run for the Stripes in the bottom of the first after leading off with a single and scoring on a fielder's choice by Bryce Rainer (Simi Valley, Calif.) to put Stripes within one, 2-1.
• The Stripes tied the game at 2-2 when Rainer scored on a single off the bat of Ralphy Velazquez (Long Beach, Calif.).
• Reiland gave the Stripes a 3-1 lead with an inside-the-park home run to right-center field in the bottom of the third.
• Kai Caranto (Santa Clarita, Calif.) singled on a line drive and scored on a sac-fly to right off the bat of Derek Curiel (West Covina, Calif.) to give the Stripes a 4-2 lead in the third inning. 
• Luca Reyes (Teaneck, N.J.) and Butt reached base on a single to right and a hit-by-pitch, respectively, before Grahovac grounded into an error to score the pair and tie the ;;game 4-4 in the sixth.
• Grahovac scored in the sixth on a passed ball and Angel Cepeda (Union City, N.J.) stole home on the following play to put the Stars ahead 6-4.
• The Stars extended the lead to 7-4 in the seventh when Trent Abel was walked and a double off the bat of Ryder Helfrick (Discovery Bay, Calif.) scored him. 
• Helfrick reached home in the seventh when Christian Grino (Glendora, Calif.) knockedan RBI single to right field and put the Stars up 8-4.
• Chang scored the final insurance run of the game for the Stars in the top of the eighth when a walk put him on base and a fielding error allowed him to cross the plate for a 9-4 Stars lead. 
• With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, the Stripes picked up the final run of the game when Andre Modungo scored on a walk to Brooks Wright (Knoxville, Tenn.) and finished the game with a score of 9-5.

• Wednesday's game concluded action at the 2019 14U NTDP. Athletes chosen to attend the 15U National Team Trials will be announced later this evening.
