PHOENIX - One player and one pitcher were crucial to their team moving onto the championship game tomorrow as Evan Tomlinson and Nicholas Yorke of Zoots Baseball Club have been named Pitcher and Player of the Day, respectively.
Tomlinson tossed 6 2/3 inning of one run ball, allowing just one unearned run to cross the plate off an error. He whiffed eight batters while walking just three, scattering five hits to propel his team into the semifinal match that they would win later that afternoon.
While Tomlinson limited the TB SoCal Navy offense in the 10-1 win, Yorke had a huge day at the plate, totaling four hits in seven at-bats, five runs scored and three RBI across Zoots' two wins on the day. After a modest 1-for-4 outing in the morning, Yorke turned things into overdrive in the semifinal match, going 3-for-3 with a home run, two singles, three RBI and three runs scored against the Playa Vista Orioles to propel his team into the championship game tomorrow morning.
