Phoenix – Joshua Rodriguez homered and drove home six runs in his only game for GBG Navy American 2023 to earn Player of the Day Honors in seeded play at the 17U National Team Championships Arizona.

Rodriguez left the yard in the top of the fifth inning when he hammered a three-run shot over the wall in right field to extend his team’s lead to 7-2. His two-run double earlier in the game opened the scoring, while his RBI single later in the game closed it with the final of 9-7.

In the tournament, Rodriguez is now 7-for-17 and has led GBG Navy American 2023 to a 3-1-1 record.

Carson Lane (Long Beach Bears) earned Pitcher of the Day honors after six scoreless innings on the mound against the GBG Renegades to advance to the round of 16 in bracket play. 

Lane allowed just four hits on the afternoon and fanned 11 in just under 90 pitches for his team. So far this tournament, he has not allowed a run over his two outings, going 9.0 innings and striking out a total of 13 hitters.

The righty guided the Long Beach Bears (5-1) to an easy 5-0 victory over the GBG Renegades in their game on Friday.
