PHOENIX — Swarm Red Elite 2025 and Sandlot Baseball Club battled to a dramatic, 2-2 tie in Friday's Game of the Day at the 14U National Team Championships Arizona.

Sandlot, which trailed by a run entering the final frame, saw the game-tying run come across to score via an RBI-groundout to second off the bat of Ty Hanley. Mason Berlinger followed with a sharp grounder to second, as well, but Swarm Red Elite's second baseman fired the ball home just in time for the tag to be applied and prevent the winning run from scoring.

Sandlot jumped on the board first when Quentin Young delivered a single to plate a run in the opening frame. However, Swarm Red Elite responded in quick fashion after JT Price laced a single the opposite way to bring home a run and tie the game in the third.

Swarm Red Elite garnered its first lead of the game with two outs in the fifth when an error allowed Price to race home.

Both starting pitchers pitched effectively and worked deep into the game. Sandlot right-hander Damien Valdez logged six innings of work and allowed just one earned run while striking out three. Right-hander Quinn Robbins countered for Swarm Red Elite and struck out five across 5.1 innings of one-run ball.

Young (Sandlot) and Price (Swarm), both of whom contributed on the offensive end for their respective sides, also pitched important innings. Young tossed a scoreless seventh inning for Sandlot to help keep his team within striking distance, while Price worked out of a seventh-inning jam to preserve the tie.

Swarm Red Elite 2025 (1-1-1) will await its next opponent (TBD) in seeded play Saturday as the team looks to nab a spot in the Round of 32.

Sandlot Baseball Club (2-0-1) will await its Saturday opponent (TBD) in seeded play, as well.
