PHOENIX — West Coast Blackdogs picked up their first win of the 14U National Team Championships Arizona in comeback fashion with a 5-3 victory against Gamers/RBI Alaska on Saturday at Camelback Ranch.

Jayden Daya tossed a complete game to earn the win for the Blackdogs and allowed just one earned run in the process. He used an efficient 83 pitches to work through the seven innings.

West Coast Blackdogs jumped on the board first when Anthony Hernandez came across to score via an error in the opening frame.

Gamers/RBI Alaska responded in quick fashion, however, and took its first lead of the tournament after Hunter Huelskoetter delivered a two-run single to right-center in the second.

Gamers Alaska extended its lead to a pair of runs in the fourth when Joshua Gluth raced home from third after a misplay in the outfield.

West Coast Blackdogs refused to bow down, however, and put four runs on the board in the sixth to regain a 5-3 advantage. A bases-loaded walk drawn by Nicholas Hamilton cut the deficit to one run, and the Blackdogs soon tied the game on Michael DeLucca's RBI-groundout.

Ethan Gutierrez's single put West Coast ahead for good and another run-scoring groundout off the bat of Daya provided a bit of insurance for the Blackdogs.

Gamers Alaska threatened to send the game to extra-innings after back-to-back one-out singles from Chase Thompson and Carson Lake put the potential tying run on second base. However, Daya induced a pair of soft fly balls to center to seal the win for West Coast.

West Coast Blackdogs 2025 (1-3) will face its next opponent (TBD) in the consolation bracket Monday.

Gamers/RBI Alaska 14U (0-4) will look to build upon its best showing at the 14U National Team Championships in the consolation bracket, as well.
