DURHAM, N.C. - On Thursday, USA Baseball announced the 62 athletes that were selected to 2018 National Team programming from the 2017 National Team Identification Series (NTIS) that was held at the National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina from August 9-27. The announcement was made through an online selection show on USABaseball.com for the ninth year in a row. The show can be viewed here.

The 62 selected athletes represent 17 different states and 13 regions across the U.S. Eleven regions boast more than one selection while ten states had multiple players chosen.
Under the direction of USA Baseball scouts, the 2017 NTIS featured over 1,200 of the nation's best players competing in 172 games, as well as skill testing and on-field evaluations. Six athletes were chosen to compete at the 2018 USA Baseball Tournament of Stars, 2 athletes to the 2018 18U National Team Trials roster, 18 athletes were invited to the 2018 17U National Team Development Program (NTDP) and twelve athletes each to the 2018 12U National Team Trials, 15U National Team Trials and 14U NTDP.
"There was an incredible amount of talent at this year's NTIS from all across the country and our task force had a difficult job selecting just sixty-two players," Senior Director of Baseball Operations Ashley Bratcher said. "We are excited about the players coming out of the 2017 event and we are looking forward to seeing their impact on next year's national team programming."
The 2017 USA Baseball National Team Identification Series (NTIS) is the most comprehensive player identification program offered by Team USA. With tryouts in every region of the country, players now have greater access to USA Baseball National Team opportunities than ever before. The program includes six separate age groups -- 11U, 13U, 14U, 15U, 16U and 17U.
