Durham, N.C. -- Day three of the USA Baseball 10U Futures Invitational began with the first semifinal game featuring the Parkview Panthers and Alamo Drillers at 10:20 a.m. at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, N.C. The second semi-final game, TBSA Patriots vs. Top Tier Americans, was played at 10:40 a.m. At the conclusion of the semi-final games, the Alamo Drillers and Top Tier Americans secured their spots in the gold medal game of the Futures Invitational, Sunday, at 11:00 a.m. at Thomas Brooks Park. The Parkview Panthers and TBSA Patriots will compete for the bronze medal at 8:00 a.m.
Game 25: STL Spikes (0-4-0), Rawlings Stars Nationals (2-2-0)
The Rawlings Stars (S.C.) quickly got on the board in their consolation matchup against STL Spikes (Mo.), scoring six runs in the first inning. They scored their runs in bunches on Saturday, with five more coming in the fourth, securing the final score of 11-0.
Micah Simpson tallied a double and triples by Gunner Alm and Jayce Cook help Rawlings Stars Nationals take an early need. On top of a strong offensive showing, its pitching was strong as well. Tyler Lomas threw a five inning no-hit shutout despite four walks.
Game 26: Parkview Panthers (2-1-1), Alamo Drillers (4-0-0)
The first semi-final matchup featured the Parkview Panthers (Ga.) and the Alamo Drillers (Texas) on Field 7 of Thomas Brooks Park. The Drillers secured their spot in the championship behind Chris Sampson's 2-for-2, three RBI day, en route to a 9-4 victory. The Panthers got down early but tried to rally late. The Panthers scored four runs in the sixth inning but that was all they would manage on the day. Cade Segura picked up the win, throwing 4.2 innings and striking out nine.
Game 27: TBSA Patriots (2-1-1), Top Tier Americans (4-0-0)
The second semi-final matchup featured Top Tier Americans (Calif.) and the TBSA Patriots (Fla.). Top Tier Americans found their groove in this one advancing to the Gold Medal Game against the Alamo Drillers with a 14-4 win.
Top Tier Americans pitcher Julius Pfau got the win and also led the team offensively, finishing 2-for-2 with three RBI. TBSA Patriots was led offensively by Andrew Tess who was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
Game 28: Louisville Sting (1-3-0) , NJ Hurricanes (0-4-0)
The Louisville Sting (Ky.) recorded their first win of the 10U Futures Invitational defeating the NJ Hurricanes (N.J.) 9-2 on Saturday. The Louisville Sting exploded for 19 hits and eight of the nine starters recorded a hit on the day. Zach Morris led the way with four hits and was a home run away from hitting the first-ever cycle in 10U Futures Invitational history. Morris finished 4-for-4 with three RBI. Ryan Comella and Carson Hooker also had great offensive games both finishing 3-for-4.
Game 29: Florida Chargers (2-1-1), Team Elite (1-1-1)
The Florida Chargers (Fla.) and Team Elite (Ga.) faced off in a consolation game on Field 6 on Saturday. The Chargers ended the game on top securing with an 8-6 victory. It was their second win of the tournament. Both teams got on the board in the first inning with a run each but the Chargers would pull ahead 4-1 in the second inning and not look back. The Chargers got the bulk of their offense from David Delpino who was 1-for-2 with two RBI. John Legeune ended the day with two RBI for Team Elite. Carmani Boozer picked up the win for the Florida Chargers in relief.
Game 30: Traction Canes Black (1-3-0), San Diego Show (2-2-0)
The San Diego Show (Calif.) and Traction Canes Black (La.) faced off for Game 30 of the 10U Futures Invitational. Scoring went back and forth early in this one with three different lead changes before the Show pulled ahead in the fourth inning. The San Diego Show scored two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, securing a 6-3 victory. Elijah Selga was again key to the Show's offense and is 5-for-12 with two home runs and five RBI for the tournament after a 2-for-3 day in this game. Andrew Gonzalez contributed with a 2-for-2 day and an RBI. Gonzalez came on in relief of Selga on the mound and picked up the win.
Game 31: LA Xtreme (2-1-0), CBA (1-3-0)
Strong pitching led the way for LA Xtreme (Calif.) in their consolation matchup against CBA (Calif) on Saturday. A combined effort from Cole Bernstein and Nicholai Arnold stymied CBA and helped get the 3-0 victory as Bernstein threw five innings and striking out seven while surrendering just two hits.
Game 32: ATP Baseball (2-2-0), Five Star Tigers (3-1-0)
In the final game of the day, Field 8 at Thomas Brooks Park featured ATP Baseball (Ariz.) and Five Star Tigers (Fla.) in an offensive-heavy game that resulted in a 15-7 victory for Five Star Tigers. This game had 28 combined hits and 22 runs as the bats were out in full force. Ten total players had multi hit showings and made for an exciting way to end a great day of baseball. For the winning Tigers, they were led by Gabe Gonzalez who was 3-for-4 with three RBI and Jacob Kendall who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
