CARY, N.C. – Carter “Compass” Copus, the 2025 USA eBaseball Finals champion and third-place finisher at the WBSC eBaseball™ Series 2025 World Finals, has earned a collegiate esports scholarship to compete with Northwood University Esports.
A longtime WBSC eBaseball™: POWER PROS player, Compass has competed in the past two editions of the WBSC eBaseball™ Series and will join Northwood University’s esports program in Midland, Michigan, this fall. He became the first esports participant representing USA Baseball to earn a collegiate esports scholarship, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s efforts to expand its presence in esports.
Northwood Esports is one of the nation’s premier collegiate esports programs, claiming 26 national championships across more than 10 video game titles since the program’s inception in 2019. The program has established itself as a leader in collegiate esports, providing student-athletes with opportunities to compete at the highest level on a national stage.
Compass secured his spot in the WBSC eBaseball™ Series World Finals by winning the USA eBaseball Finals last fall at the North Carolina State Gaming and Esports Lab in Raleigh, North Carolina. He went on to capture bronze at the World Finals, recording the best finish by a USA Baseball representative in the event’s history. Additionally, Compass recently qualified for the 2026 USA eBaseball Finals, scheduled for November 13 in Raleigh, where he will look to defend his title.
The WBSC eBaseball™ Series enters a new chapter in 2026, transitioning to eBaseball™: PRO SPIRIT, a baseball video game developed by the Japanese entertainment company and video game developer Konami. The 2026 USA eBaseball Finals will take place November 13, followed by the WBSC eBaseball™ Series 2026 World Finals from November 14-15.
