Season Summary

General: Eric Filia was selected in the 20th round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners after playing collegiately at UCLA.  

MiLB: In 319 Minor League games, Filia holds a .318/.410/.426 slash line to go along with 13 home runs and 159 RBIs. After being drafted, he got his start with the Everett AquaSox (A-Shortened) in 2016, hitting .362 (89-for-246) with four home runs and 46 RBIs in 68 games. Prior to the 2021 season, the Carlsbad, California, native played in the Mariners organization in 2019 with the Tacoma Rainiers (Triple-A), hitting .331 (40-for-121) in 35 games. 

Amateur: In three years with the Bruins, Filia batted .283 with four home runs and 73 RBIs. He was an integral part of UCLA’s 2013 College World Series championship and was named to the All-CWS team after batting .333 and driving in eight runs, including five in the championship-clinching game. In 2016, Filia hit .295 with 36 runs and 32 RBIs in 55 starts for the Bruins and was named to the All-Pac-12 team before being drafted by the Mariners.

Season Summary

Filia started all four games in right field for Team USA at the WBSC Baseball Americas Qualifier, hitting .313 with a home run and five RBIs for the tournament. He drove in a pair of key runs as part of a 2-for-5 night in Team USA’s 7-1 win over Nicaragua to open the AOQ. Filia also drove in Team USA’s first run of its 10-1 victory over Canada with a two-out, third-inning single. Filia went 2-for-4 with a double, homer, and two RBIs against Venezuela in a 4-2 U.S. victory.
